Driving schools

Teaching a driving lesson, your missed calls still get an answer

During a lesson, the instructor does not pick up, and that is how it should be. CallReply sends a text from your own number so the student or parent knows the call was seen.

Call back: Mr Parker about enrolment

What changes for your driving school

During the lesson. Students and parents get a text; you call back once the lesson is over.

Hands stay on the wheel

You no longer take your eyes off the road to see who is calling. The phone answers by text for you, even tucked in the glovebox.

On a lesson · Text sent

Fewer lost lesson slots

A student who wants to move a lesson knows you saw the call. They wait for your call back instead of simply not showing up.

Lesson to move

Parents and students reassured

The text can use the student's first name saved in your contacts. A parent enrolling their teenager gets a polite, clear reply.

Call backs between lessons

On your break, the history lists every missed call with its time. You call back in order and nobody is forgotten.

Set up before your next lesson

  1. 01 Install the Android app Download the APK from callreply.fr and allow access to the call log and SMS.
  2. 02 Write your message For example: "I am teaching a driving lesson, I will call you back when it ends." Add the name of your school.
  3. 03 Head out on your lesson Every missed or rejected call triggers the text, even with the phone locked.

What happens when a student calls during a lesson?

You reject the call or let it ring. As soon as it shows up in the call log, CallReply sends your message from the phone's own SIM. The student receives an ordinary SMS and can reply, for instance to say they need to cancel Thursday's lesson. You read the reply once parked, then call back if needed.

Several instructors, several phones?

Each instructor installs the app on their own Android phone. Texts go out from their number, with their message. In the web client space, the device filter shows activity per phone, so you can check that calls to the office and calls to instructors all get an answer.

Which driving schools is it for?

Independent instructors who handle their students, their schedule and their phone on their own. Between lessons, tests and theory sessions, the phone often rings at the wrong moment. A text reply keeps a future student from dialling the school down the road instead.

Driving schools with several instructors, where the front desk cannot absorb everything. Calls often land straight on an instructor's mobile. CallReply works as simple SMS answering, with no switchboard and no new line.

Good to know

A reply, not marketing

The text answers someone who just called you. Keep it informational: who you are, when you will call back. If you add a promotion on a lesson package, prospecting rules apply, including prior consent and a free way to opt out.

The STOP list

A number that must never receive a text, such as an examiner's or a relative's, goes on the STOP list. You edit it from the phone or the web space, and those numbers never receive anything.

Your data

Data is hosted in France, with a retention period for each kind of data. After that, history keeps dates and statuses but not numbers. Contacts sync only with your consent, and export or erasure is requested from "My data".

Hidden numbers

A call from a withheld number leaves no number to reply to. No text goes out. The call is still listed in history so you know someone tried to reach you during the lesson.

Frequently asked questions

Does the text go out while I am driving?

Yes. Sending is automatic and needs no action from you. The phone can stay locked and put away, so there is nothing to touch during the lesson.

If a student calls three times, do they get three texts?

No. CallReply sends at most one SMS per number per day. Later calls appear in history with the reason "already answered today".

Can I write in English for international students?

Yes. You have one French and one English template, with the {first_name} and {name} variables filled in from your contacts.

What if I use an iPhone?

iOS does not allow automatic sending. On iPhone, CallReply prepares the message in Messages and you tap Send. The iPhone page explains how it works in full.
